Ayla Bodach-Turner/Women's Nordic Skiing | University of Maine at Farmington
The University of Maine at Farmington women's nordic team placed 7th overall and 3rd among USCSA teams on Sunday. They were once again led by First Year skier Ayla Bodach-Turner who placed 4th in the USCSA conference as well as 9th in the Open class which included athletes from Dartmouth, UVM and Middlebury. The 7.5 km Classic race on the FIS homologated 2.5 km course. First Year skier Jenna Badeau had her best race ever and placed a season-high 9th in the USCSA conference and 22nd place overall, followed by Captain Mullein Francis in 11th in the conference and 32nd overall.
"The Women ended up 3rd in the East and qualified for Nationals, closing the gap to 2nd place Paul Smiths college. We're peaking at the right time and excited to be headed to Mammoth Mountain in California March 5th for a week of racing at 9,000 feet elevation", said Buzz Bean. "We're also excited the Snowboard/Freeride and Alpine teams are qualified to go. It will be an amazing experience for all the athletes".
