Our Thursday spotlight features Sue Dupler, Belfast Public Health Nurse. Sue has worked at Waldo County General Hospital for 29 years.
What makes Sue passionate about what she does?
“I have been a nurse for 35 years. It all started when I was in kindergarten, I use to carry around a pencil box full of band aids giving them out to my class mates. I have spent 29 years at WCGH. I started out in the emergency department and now I am out in the community as the Belfast Public Health Nurse. Public health community nursing allows me to reach out to people that otherwise may be falling through the cracks or do not have the means to access health care. Nursing has been an amazing opportunity for me to meet the community and help people with their everyday health care needs.”
Earlier this week, the Belfast City Council presented Sue with its Spirit of America award in recognition of her ongoing dedication to improving the health of the community and especially her work organizing vaccination clinics during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Congratulations, Sue, for this well-deserved recognition. Thanks for being part of our team!
