The majority of students in Knox County districts were white in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Maine Department of Education.

Of the 5,064 students attending schools in the county, 93.2% were white. Multiracial students were the second most represented ethnic group, making up 2.5% of the total enrollment.

In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in Knox County, representing 93.4% of the student body.

Regional School Unit 40/Maine School Administrative District 40, Five Town Community School District, and Regional School Unit 13 had the most diverse student populations in Knox County, which included white, multiracial, Hispanic or Latino, Asian, Black, American Indian or Alaskan Native, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.
