Emily recently took the Animal Behavior and Modification course at Unity with Professor Amber Ramos.
"The biggest takeaways I learned from Animal Behavior and Modification are how to analyze an animal's behavior, how different environments impact animal behavior, the different ways that animals learn, and how to modify their behavior by using all of that information.
We worked a lot on our course project where we chose an animal and topic and then applied what we learned throughout the course to make a training manual to help modify the chosen animal's behavior.
My chosen animal was a cat and my training plan aimed to improve the cat's behavior at the veterinarian by decreasing stress and anxiety. Each week, we applied the learning materials to our personal project, and I definitely hope to utilize my project and other things I learned in this course in the future!
I really enjoyed this class because the topic was very interesting. I have always been interested in learning about the ways animals behave and interact, so reading our textbook and watching all of the videos that were provided throughout the course really allowed me to expand my knowledge and stay interested the whole time. Along with that, each week we got to interact with our classmates through discussions, and I really benefited from learning about the animals and behaviors my peers chose as well.
Overall, I felt like the topic itself was what allowed me to be successful, along with Professor Ramos and her constant feedback and reassurance throughout the course! I always knew what was expected of me, and was given all the tools I needed to be sure I met those expectations!"
