Kerriann recently took the Building a Better World: Ethical Decision Making course at Unity College with Dr. Jessica Young.
I recently moved to upstate New York and am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Conservation. Before I started at Unity, I completed two years at Suffolk Community College. I began studying American Sign Language then switched my major to Early Childhood. I knew I wanted to change paths because I wasn’t fully passionate about either degree. My dream is to help protect wildlife and the environment, so I began searching for degrees and schools that would help me to achieve that dream.
I chose Unity because of the remote education, flexibility, and the class style. I went to community college during the pandemic causing classes to go remote. I was able to excel academically during this time and not have the stressors that being in a classroom brought. Continuing my education further remotely was important to me and was something I looked for to complete my bachelor's.
I recently completed Building a Better World: Ethical Decision Making. I learned how sustainability can be seen through ethics and how the decisions we make in our daily lives can have major impacts on our current environment and the future of our planet. This class has opened my eyes to all the choices we make and learning the positives and negatives they can later bring. I was able to choose different documentaries and debates for the assignments based on what aligned with my interests. It helped me to better understand the basics of ethics and how to tie them into current events.
As of now, I’m not sure what my future career will look like. The staff at Unity have been so helpful in speaking with me and providing resources for me to use to get a greater understanding of career paths I can follow with the degree I am pursuing.
