"I live in North Central Idaho, and I am studying for a bachelor's in Wildlife Conservation. I will likely graduate in 2025.
I live in an area known as "The Palouse". It is rolling hills and farmland. The growing months are beautiful with different crops, flowers, and growth. In the fall that area becomes a barren wasteland when all the crops are harvested, and the fields become a sea of brown. Then, the area transforms into a winter wonderland when the snow falls in winter. My goal with my final project was to capture this beauty and the serenity of untouched snow.
Most of my photographs were taken while driving around on snow-covered dirt roads in the middle of nowhere. I would stop snap some photos and then drive on. Throughout the course, I took over 800 photos.
I had very little photo-taking experience before taking the class and I got a lot of practice taking pictures of snow. It was difficult to take so many pictures each week when there wasn't as much light as there would be at other times of the year. I think I am a landscape photographer for life. My artist statement also has some good info on the area where I took all these photos."
