Laura recently took the Animal Training & Care course at Unity College with Professor Gina Caldwell.
I am currently working to earn a B.S. in Animal Science and Health. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be a veterinarian. I've always been involved with animals since I was a little girl, if my parents couldn't find me in the house, all they had to do was look out in the barn and I'd be snuggled up with the goats, pigs, and other farm critters! I've been a veterinary technician for 22 years and find it to be the most rewarding experience. Every day, I'm tasked with providing quality and compassionate care to animals and I couldn't imagine doing anything else!
In the last few years, Vet Med has experienced significant struggles and there is a desperate need for veterinarians. With the flexibility offered, I can continue working full-time, attend college full-time, and still have time for my family and fur babies. Without Unity College, I don't believe that I would have been able to reach my goal while attempting to work, traditional brick-and-mortar schools are not an option for me. The classes have been amazing and relevant to my current and future career, in fact, I've recently completed the Animal Training and Care class and learned terms that I was already practicing and didn't know it! Even with over 2 decades in veterinary medicine, I'm still learning!
The professors and administrators have been amazing and so supportive, it's been over 20 years since I've been in school and so much has changed; Unity College helps make the transition simple and every aspect of the learning material is outlined with student success in mind. Thank you, Unity College, for providing me with a quality education that will take me to the next step in my journey, Vet School.
