Meet Unity College Distance Education student Nicole | Unity College

Nicole recently took the Animal Training & Care course at Unity College with Professor Jesse Robbins.

Before I started Unity, I was working full-time at a credit union as an accounting clerk and single-handedly raising my 3-year-old daughter in El Paso, Texas.

I saw a Unity advertisement and called to get more information because it was everything I was looking for and seemed too good to be true. I had been wanting to go back to school for a while but felt like it was impossible because I still needed to work and take care of my daughter so when I got more info on the classes at Unity it was perfect for my busy schedule. One class every 5 weeks entirely online was everything I could ask for and more and Unity also offers a major I am interested in.

I am hoping to get a bachelor's degree in Animal Science and Behavior that will open more doors for me to be able to work with all kinds of animals.

I enjoyed the Animal Training & Care course taught by Jesse Robbins because it was the first class I took that was a part of the program core and gave me a feel of what to expect for my future core classes. I also enjoyed learning about animal care in a shelter setting and a zoo setting because there are differences. I am happy the professor touched on both.

I am not quite sure what I want to do after I complete school. I just know I want to work with animals. My future goals are to gain more experience working with animals and get certified in dog grooming and dog training.
