Connery Scott, Master of Science in Wildlife Conservation and Management, Unity College class of 2022.
Before I came to Unity, I was working a few jobs here and there to save money and get experience after I had completed my Bachelor's Degree in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Northern Colorado. Throughout the past few years, I debated whether or not I should pursue grad school because so many people I knew had mixed advice. Some said I should get a Master's, while others said that I can make it in my career without one. I went ahead and checked out different programs across the country, and when I found Unity College, it was the perfect fit for me.
My graduate major was the Master's in Wildlife Conservation & Management with an emphasis in the Conservation & Management Track, and for my final project, I decided to go to the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest and study my favorite species of mammal...Big Cats! I lived in Peru for 4 months, and I couldn't be more grateful to have learned what I did. When you take your first step into an ecosystem as diverse as the Amazon, you are tested not just academically, but also physically & mentally.
For Unity College, I hoped to be able to have more fieldwork opportunities and earn more worldly experience to share with future colleagues. I succeeded thanks to my professors and my fellow classmates, and in the future, I hope to be a full-time researcher for Zoos and/or research facilities at Universities and State/Federal agencies.
