Brittany Reed, Master of Science in Animal Science and Behavior, Unity College class of 2022.

"I chose Unity for the flexibility of distance education. I am applying to veterinary school and wanted a master's degree that could bolster my application while also increasing my knowledge set in a field I’m passionate about, animal science. Unity allowed me to start quickly and finish my program in just 11 short months but you can also take longer if needed!

My favorite class here at Unity was my advanced animal training course with Dr. Kieson. The course was fun and engaging, and Dr. Kieson ensured that we weren’t just “taking a class” and truly engaged with our learning goals. Our course project was so fun to complete, and the material within the course I have continued to use in my day-to-day life at work and home with animals I interact with. The class never felt like a chore and I looked forward to my weekly assignments and discussions because I knew my colleagues would have great insight into the materials that week.

I will hear from veterinary schools shortly and hope to obtain my DVM next. Aside from veterinary school, my degree will be used to further my experience in the equine management world. I am currently heading the opening of a new hydrotherapy program designed for equine rehabilitation.

Take the leap. Distance education can be intimidating for some but Unity College gives you all the tools you need to be successful. The program is also affordable which is a major bonus. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, and engage with your peers. I took classes with people from in and outside of the US, of all ages and backgrounds and that experience has been amazing. Make those connections!"
