Artist-educators Jamie Kruse and Elizabeth Ellsworth launch OBSERVATORY on May 27 and 28 at 158 High Street, Belfast. OBSERVATORY is smudge studio’s latest project:
a geo | cosmo field station, workshop, gallery and tea hut. smudge studio is a education+arts nonprofit dedicated to expanding diverse publics' senses of belonging to our home planet—and to its home, the cosmos—even within times of fast environmental and cultural change.
OBSERVATORY's hybrid storefront space will display regularly updated window installations entitled COSMOS DAILY. Through evolving offerings of artworks, workshops, visiting artists, screenings, and tea tastings, smudge studio will explore Belfast as a continuously unfolding place that shapes and is shaped by vast geo-cosmo-social forces.
